Inspiring TARGET (Theatre Arts: Get Involved) was set up with the aim to get more young people involved in the performing arts. TARGET looks at ways to encourage young people to pursue performing arts hobbies, education and careers through the use of inspirational role models, unique projects, exciting teaching and hands-on experience in the industry.
Motivating TARGET endeavours to motivate young people into exploring the arts through youth groups, schools and colleges, and is dedicated to providing opportunities for young people regardless of experience, (dis)ability or background. TARGET offers projects for all ages.
Supporting As Arts Ambassador, TARGET supports outside performing arts groups by increasing awareness of their work on both a local and national level. A primary focus of TARGET is to bring professional national performers and theatre organisations to local areas, where factors such as cost, distance and access to resources (live performances and performance spaces) would otherwise limit involvement. Furthermore, TARGET acts as a go-between for local arts groups and youth groups, providing useful links, organisation and resources to enable more young people to experience the arts on offer on their doorstep.
Educating TARGET specialises in workshops for schools youth groups, and community groups, based around various theatre disciplines, both by in-house staff and through external, recommended organisations. Workshops are fun, friendly and fast-paced, and range from primary drama sessions to advanced arts qualifications and even plays and performances tailored to school children. TARGET also caters for additional educational needs, running confidence-building sessions to give participants a belief in their own voice.
Organising TARGET’s programme is based around a series of concerts, workshops, projects, master classes and events, each selected for their specific opportunities, skills and benefits. They will be open to everyone, often at a highly subsidised rate, and in local venues, to encourage participation.
